The P1.5 million for the acquisition of an ambulance for a hospital in Isabela town has been realigned to purchase feeds for the sheep housed at the Negros First Ranch in Murcia, Negros Occidental.
The request for realignment of funds was approved by the Provincial Development Council, chaired by Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., and concurred in by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan during its recent regular session, on motion of Board Member Salvador Escalante, chairperson of the SP Committee on Finance and Appropriations.
Board Member Emilio Yulo III said the realignment was approved after Board Member Melvin Ibañez insisted that the two ambulances for Isabela town, issued to the Ignacio Arroyo Sr. Memorial Hospital are in good working condition.
Apparently, it turned out that the ambulance at the Isabela hospital, that was taken from the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, was not in good running condition, Yulo claimed.
Whenever it bogged down, the ambulance of Isabela town is requested by the hospital itself, he said, adding that, that is why the new ambulance was requested.
Ibañez, however, said he was told by the Ignacio L. Arroyo Sr. Memorial Hospital director that there is no immediate need for the ambulance. Ibañez also maintained that the two ambulances of Isabela and the hospital are still fully functional.
He also stressed the need to prioritize the food and supplements for the sheep, adding that neglecting it will affect the livelihood project.
Ibañez said the PDC had requested to realign the funds.
He also claimed that politics is the reason behind the delay of the approval of budget for the various projects of Marañon.*GPB back
