Voters hearing set
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The Commission on Elections has scheduled an Election Registration Board hearing on Nov. 19 to determine if the additional 51,809 applicants since the last ERB hearing are qualified to vote in the 2013 elections.

Guihulngan City election officer Jerome Brillantes said the total number of registered voters in Negros Oriental stood at 722,265, with the additional 51,809 Negrenses who registered after the last ERB hearing in August 2012.

He said most of the new registrants are in Dumaguete City with 5,598; followed by Bayawan City – 5,532 and Guihulngan – 3,579.

The number can change depending on the outcome of the ERB hearing. A protest action to disqualify a voter will be decided during the ERB hearing, Brillantes said.

The hearing will also be conducted by Comelec ERB in other cities and towns of the country, he added.*JG
