Sayson pushes fast
Sum-ag road repair

BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson yesterday said he will ask the Department of Public Works and Highways Central Office to pressure the contractor to fast-track the implementation of the road rehabilitation project in Brgy. Sum-ag, Bacolod City.

Sayson said the DPWH in Bacolod City informed him that the project is being undertaken by the DPWH Central Office. This is a P320 million project which includes the construction of three bridges, he said.

He was also informed that the DPWH will start asphalting the Sum-ag Road first week of December, he added.

Sayson said the project was awarded to a contractor last July. Aside from a resolution passed by the Sangguniang Panlungsod, the city and City Engineers Office have also sent several letters asking the DPWH to fast- track the construction of the road, he said.

The problem is that the DPWH graded the whole road instead of working on one lane at a time to minimize traffic congestion, Sayson said.

Vehicles could take an alternative route passing through Dulao that will lead to Brgy. Felisa, he said. He said he hopes the DPWH will cement the alternative route for vehicles that want to avoid passing through the Sum-ag Road, he added.

Sayson said that since the DPWH graded the whole road in Sum-ag, he hopes it could finish asphalting it by December.*CGS
