Villanueva captures
master bowler title

Boy Villanueva of Mulo Car Aircon won the master bowler title in the premiere division, while Joe Ermeo of Bago City Bowlers Association and Davies Fusion starter Precy Pillo led the non-rated and women’s department of the Suppliers Masskara Friendship Cup at the New Top’s Millennium Plaza Alley in Bacolod City.

Villanueva, who led the tournament’s top 10 bowlers, beat Willy Mahilum of NPBC/RJ Stars/TNT in the finals, 128-113.

Mahilum who was seeded No.3 advanced to the final round after No.2 qualifier and teammate Hernand Garciniego opted not play in the semifinals.

NPBC stalwart Abe Leong was third runner-up.

In the non-rated bracket, Ermeo beat top qualifier Fred Mapano of Canvil Knights in the deciding match, 135-116 for the title.

The class B champion had showdown with Mapano after taming Art Palo of St. Joseph – La Salle in the semis and teammate Ric Abellar.

In the women’s bracket, Pillo took the championship trophy by default over teammate Tess Robles.

Robles will challenge Pillo by winning over Maila Balayo of Tiger Eye in their semifinals.

Meanwhile, Bago City Employees are leading in the 2nd PAGSO Sportfest at the Lopue’s East Bowling Centre in Bacolod City.

The Bago team composed of Rosalie Reyes, Matt Gaudite, Rene Bustamante, Quintin Supera, Joe Ermeo, Julio Garnica, Aida Po and Merlyn Herida compiled 1,524 points to lead the 8-team cast.

Bacolod City was second with 1,496, only 28 points behind the leader.

Silay and La Carlota Cities settled for third and fourth with 1,441 and 1,393, respectively.

Also competing are Silay City A with 1,383; Victorias City, 1,238; North Cluster, 1,210, and Kabankalan City, 1,158.*HLG
