Birthdays and despedidas

buddai

How time flies.

Only 46 days to go, and it will be Christmas. It seems that everybody is preparing and buying holiday décor and early gifts for their loved ones.

Graham Charles East decided to come home to Bacolod City earlier than usual just to watch the world-famous MassKara Festival, and enjoy the street-dancing, parade and daily activities at the public plaza and at the Lacson Tourism Strip.

Last November 2 was the birthday of his wife, Teresita, so, together with all the apos, nieces and nephews, have treated her at Chicken Deli. Two days after, it was Graham’s turn to be treated to a birthday lunch by friends, headed by Gene Mapa, Lina Lim and Nelly Ledesma, at Mely’s Garden, and at Aboy’s yesterday by Tita Carmen Siason.

The family also visited tourist spots in Negros Occidental, like the Mambukal Resort in Murcia, and Don Salvador Benedicto, the summer capital of the province.

Also honored on their birthdays were Bacolod first Lady Elsa Leonardia, Trina Corral, and Cynthia Destajo, who shared their birthday cake, at a gathering that was also a send-off party for California MassKara guests Al Denila and Allan Gomez, who had very full schedules during their stay in Bacolod.*

Remember: Prayers lifts our heart above the battles of life and gives us a glimpse of God’s power, which spells victory and hope.*

The Jehovah’s Witnesses will hold a three-day district convention, on the theme “Safeguard Your Heart!” starting at 8:20 a.m. on Nov. 16, at the Victorias City Sports and Amusement Center in Victorias, Negros Occidental, its press release said.

The daily themes and titles of program parts are based on passages of scripture, with focus on strengthening one’s spirituality, the press release said.

All of the 29 area congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses will support the activity, and around 4,500 delegates are expected to attend the convention. It has also invited non-members to join the activity as no admission fee will be collected. For more information, those interested may contact Gideon Sullivan at 0919-4788115, the press release added.*
