Members of the Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation arrested six persons and seized three loose firearms with ammunition in operations held Wednesday in Bayawan and Dumaguete cities, Negros Oriental.
The police said Alex “alias Bimbo”, Aljun Ryan, and Paul, all surnamed Quindo, and residents of Gomez Street, Bayawan, were arrested in a buy-bust operation after Alex handed a plastic sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for P500.
The police, armed with a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 63 Judge Ananson Jayme, also searched their residence and seized more heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, a silver-plated .357 Magnum revolver with no serial number, and six live ammunition, a Smith and Wesson snub-nosed revolver also without serial number, with five bullets, a Black Widow .22 caliber revolver with five bullets, and several rounds of ammunition of various calibers.
The suspects are now detained at the Bayawan police lock-up cell and charges for illegal drugs and possession of firearms and ammunition have been filed against them, the police said.
Meanwhile, elements of the PNP Special Operations Group, the NBI and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, also arrested Janel Catadman, 20, of EJ Blanco Drive in Barangay Piapi, Dumaguete City, in a buy-bust operation at around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Hours later, another police team raided the house of Silverio Gadoz Jr., 33, of Barangay Looc, Dumaguete City, and seized 16 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, and P28,600 in cash believed to be proceeds from illegal drug transactions.
Abner Macalisang Bayot, 26, of Zone 2, Looc, was also nabbed at Gadoz’s house after a search on him yielded a plastic sachet of suspected shabu, the police added.*JFP
