Strictly implement
anti-rabies drive

A resolution urging the Bacolod City Veterinary Office to strictly implement City Ordinance No. 184, Series of 1997 and C.O. 554, Series of 2011, on rabies prevention and eradication, was approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.

C.O. No. 184 approved the rabies eradication, prevention and control program of Bacolod City, while C.O. No. 554 established dog owners’ responsibility.

Authored by Councilor Sonya Verdeflor, the resolution said C.O. 184 provides that the City Veterinary Office has the responsibility of maintaining and improving animals’ rabies surveillance system, enforcement of dog population control measures, undertaking anti-rabies vaccination of dogs, cats and other susceptible animals, among others.

Strict implementation of the ordinances to be initiated by the Bacolod City Veterinary Office is necessary because of the many cases of Bacolod City residents being bitten and victimized by stray dogs/rabid dogs.

The SP also approved Wednesday a resolution requesting the Department of Agrarian Reform to allocate P 2 million as financial assistance for common service facilities for the Agrarian reform beneficiaries of Brgy. Alangilan, Bacolod City.

It also approved another resolution reiterating the request for Professional Regulation Commission chairman Teresita Manzala for the establishment of an office in Bacolod City.

Both resolutions were authored by Councilor Carlos Jose Lopez.*CGS
