Minor stabs sexagenarian dead

A 69-year-old man, who allegedly snatched a cellular phone, and was stabbed by his victim died Friday, at Sitio San Jose, Brgy. Salong, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, police records show.

Investigations by the Kabankalan police showed that Clarito de la Cruz Jowa, who was under the influence of alcoholic liquor, snatched the cellular phone of a 16-year-old girl, whose identity is being withheld, whom he also attempted to stab.

The minor was not hit, and managed to grab the hand of Jowa, holding the knife, and hit him.

Jowa was declared dead on arrival at the Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital, and the 16-year-old, surrendered to Bantay Bayan member Nestor Suguiro, who endorsed her to the Kabankalan City Police Station who turned her over to the City Social Welfare and Development Office, pending investigation of the incident.

On the same day, a certain Demetrio Tumbay,41, was also stabbed, allegedly by Ronnie Pancho, alias Panoy, in Brgy. Napoles, Bago City, police records also showed.

Tumbay, sustained a stab wound in the stomach but who survived, and is now being treated at the Bago District Hospital, while the suspect is still at large.

A day earlier, a certain John Desendario, 36, was shot allegedly by Paed Cambronero, who fled immediately, in Sitio Calapnisan, Brgy. Inayawan, Cauayan, police said.

Desendario, who was hit in the chest, is now being treated at the Kabankalan District Hospital.

Misunderstanding between the two reportedly triggered the shooting incident.*GPB
