The Bank of the Philippine Islands is opening a branch at the Ayala North Point in February next year to better serve the residents of Talisay City and the northern portion of Bacolod City, an official of the bank said yesterday.
Cristina Sy, BPI’s Area Business Director for Negros Island, said their branch in Talisay will be the 15th in Negros Occidental.
Sy said they were supposed to open the branch in October this year but, being the sister company of Ayala Corporation, they decided to hold it until the opening of the Ayala mall.
BPI also opened its Shopping Branch to boost its banking services to residents in the eastern part of Bacolod in July last year.
Sy said they expect an increase in the number of their savers in the province by 20 percent by the end of 2012 especially with their easy savings program with as low as a P200 initial deposit.
She said BPI has also launched the jumpstart savings account program for 10 to 17 years-old with no initial deposits required, to teach them how to become thrifty at a young age.
BPI hosted a financial wellness advice talk yesterday at the L’ Fisher Hotel for journalists in Bacolod with Joselito del Prado, a senior Manager and investment counselor of the bank’s asset management and trust group as speaker.*APN
