Organic farmers’ festival
slated November 22-24

The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist has set the 7th Negros Island Organic Farmers Festival on November 22 to 24, at the Capitol grounds in Bacolod City, a press release from the provincial government said.

Dubbed “Celebrating the gains of organic agriculture; Mainstreaming opportunities through fair-trade,” the three-day activity will feature lectures, native games, a song writing competition, and an organic quiz, poster 7 slogan making contest, the press release said.

There will also be a fun run, walk, bike, and dance activity, an organic food cooking contest, and an indigenous people’s band competition.

The festival will be held by the provincial government in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Negros Island Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development Foundation and Organik na Negros!, and the Organic Producers and Retailers Association.

Also involved in the project are the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental, the Department of Education and the Provincial Veterinarian’s Office of Negros Occidental, the press release said.*
