The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Oriental is being urged to pass a resolution asking Congress to investigate the reasons behind the factors for higher prices of fuel in the province compared to Cebu or Manila.
Piston partylist group first nominee, George San Mateo, said that if transport groups complain about the increase in petroleum prices in Manila, Negrenses have more reasons to question the pump price difference of petroleum products between the province and other regions.
San Mateo visited Dumaguete City recently to inaugurate the repair shop of Piston members in Sitio Canday-ong, Barangay Calindagan, Dumaguete.
He said Piston was accredited by the Commission on Elections as a partylist group in the 2013 elections, and will bring the issue from the streets to the halls of Congress, if given the chance to represent the transport sector.
It is also batting for the removal of the 12 percent value added tax on petroleum products, and the scrapping of the oil deregulation law.*JG
