Six residents will be awarded as “Outstanding Dumaguetnons 2012” during the Charter anniversary celebration of Dumaguete City on Nov. 22.
City Administrator William Ablong, chair of the Evaluation and Awards Committee, said the six will be recognized for their professional excellence, integrity, innovation and service to the community and the country.
The city government initially targeted 10 Dumaguetnons, but because of time constraints, only six pioneer awardees were chosen.
Ablong said he believes there are more Dumaguetnons deserving of the award but were not nominated due to lack of time and information. The committee plans to institutionalize the annual selection and awarding and expects more nominees in the coming years, he said.
The other members of the Search Committee are Dumaguete Fiesta co-convenor Glenda Descuatan, City Tourism Officer Woodrow Maquiling Jr., City Nutrition officer Lourdes Taburaza, and Department of Education Division Superintendent Ramir Uytico.*MA
