BCPO validating
kidnap group

Bacolod City Police Office Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, said yesterday that they are validating a report that a group from Manila arrived in Western Visayas to abduct teenaged girls.

De la Paz said that, as of now, they do not have any reports of incidents involving the alleged group, but he ordered all station commanders and intelligence operatives in Bacolod to be on alert.

“While this report is still subject to validation, we should not take it lightly, we need to be alert”, he said.

In the meantime, De la Paz advised the public to be calm, saying verything is under control.*APN

Gun, bladed weapons
seized from 4

An unlicensed gun and three bladed weapons were seized by the police from four men arrested yesterday and Wednesday in barangays Villamonte and Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City.

Ronald Torres, 32, of Hervias Dos, Brgy. Villamonte was arrested for alarm and scandal at about 12 a.m. yesterday at Narra Street, Bacolod. He was later found to have a homemade .37 caliber revolver with two bullets, Station 4 commander, Chief Insp. Danilo Francisco said.

He said a concerned citizen called the police to report that Torres was lobbing stones at those passing the Triangle Island Plaza.

Francisco added that a background investigation conducted on Torres showed that he is facing theft and rape charges.

Francisco appealed to those who have been victimized by hold-uppers and snatchers to visit Police Station 4 where Torres is now detained and determine if he was the culprit.

Meanwhile, Police Officer 1 Edward Teodorico of Police Station 1 arrested Rey John Torrabelia and Elde Jaymee, both 32, and residents of Purok Boulevard in Brgy. 13, who were fighting in front of the Metrodome Plaza building at Araneta Street, Brgy. Singcang-Airport, at about 3:20 a.m. yesterday.

A 10-inch long bladed weapon was seized from Torrabelia and an 11-inch long one from Jayme, when they were frisked by Teodorico, police reports showed.

Teodorico also reported the arrest of Armando Bonita, 18, of Purok Magti-ayon, Brgy. 10, Bacolod, for possession of a 10-inch long knife at about 10:55 a.m. Wednesday at the Bacolod City Public Plaza.*APN

Two men hurt
in knife duel

Two men were injured in a knife duel over a misunderstanding in Purok Cereza North in Brgy. 3, Bacolod City at about 4 p.m. Wednesday.

J.K. Gabriel Daguob, 26, of Purok Bat-os Calamba, and Jimmy Paredes, “alias Tisoy”, 19, of Santo Niño Stop both in Brgy. 3, were injured case investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Dante Victor Escorpion, said yesterday.

Daguob sustained two wounds on both sides and on his head, while Paredes had two his back, Escorpion said.

However, only Daguob was confined at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, while Paredes was nowhere to be found, he also said.

Investigation also showed that the group of Daguob was having drinks at a variety store when Paredes, who had just arrived, had an argument with an unidentified man.

Daguob told the man and Paredes to keep quiet but Paredes, instead, argued with Daguob and that eventually led to the duel, investigation also showed.

Escorpion said he does not know if Daguob and Paredes will file charges against each other.*APN
