of payrolls urged

BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

A resolution requesting the City Budget Office, City Accountant's Office and City Treasurer's Office under the City Mayor's Office to assist and work out for an orderly system towards the early processing and release of the payroll of all plantilla casuals and job order personnel of Bacolod City in preparation for the Christmas season and the coming New Year, was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Sonya Verdeflor, said it has been observed that during the rush days/hours before the Christmas day or New Year's eve celebrations, plantilla casuals and job order personnel of the City of Bacolod undergo the inconvenience of waiting for several hours to get their payroll from the cashiers.

The resolution said the workers need the funds for their noche buena and New Year's eve celebrations, and the concerned offices should address this so that the people can be assured of their pay and benefits on time.

The SP also passed a resolution requesting the Department of Trade and Industry, the Department of Transportation and Communication and the Land Transportation Office, to check the quality standards of the motorcycles that proliferate in the market today.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Caesar Distrito, said there is a proliferation of motorcycles in Bacolod that that have substandard qualities and pose danger to riders/users.

Motorcycles with substandard qualities are sometimes the cause of accidents from sudden loss of brakes, malfunctioning lights, etc., it said.

Records of the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office-Traffic Management Unit from January-November, show that, there have been 27 deaths from motorcycle accidents, the resolution said.

Motorcycle dealers, distributing and selling substandard units, should be apprehended and should not be tolerated, it also said.*CGS
