‘Sibucao port rehab feasible’

The general manager of the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority said that, based on their study, the improvement and rehabilitation of the Sibucao Fish Port in Barangay Banago, Bacolod City, is feasible, a press release from the office of Bacolod Rep. Anthony Golez Jr., said yesterday.

PFDA general manager Edgardo Chu informed Golez, who requested for the proposed rehabilitation and improvement of the Sibucao Fish Port, about the matter and sent a copy of the executive summary, site development plan and cost estimate for the proposed rehabilitation and improvement of the port, the press release said.

Funding for the project will come from the Department of Agriculture or the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, the press release also said.

The PFDA has included the project requested by Golez in the priority list of projects for funding by either the DA or BFAR, it said.

It added that the BFAR, through its director, Asis Perez, wrote Golez that they will conduct a study and evaluation for the construction of a fish port in Brgy. Sum-Ag.

Golez is also pushing for the construction of a fish port in Brgy. Sum-Ag and constantly aims to give plenty of livelihood opportunities for Bacolodnons, the press release added.*
