Several weeks after he was tagged as the triggerman of hotelier Johnny Chua, the family of suspected gun-for-hire Pic Raymond Longno broke their silence and claimed that he was innocent.
Edgardo Hiponia, Longno’s uncle, told ABS-CBN that he did not leave home and had drinks with his neighbors on October 20, the day Chua was shot by a lone gunman at the junction of JV and Burgos Streets.
Hiponia said Longno and their other relatives were listening to the radio when the killing of Chua was reported. He added that Longno even told them that he was anticipating that the police would tag him as the suspect.
The result of the paraffin test on Longno that showed him negative of gunpowder nitrates, is also proof that he was indeed innocent of the charges, Hiponia added.
Longno, was shot by two bonnet-wearing men the following day while he was walking at Malaspina Street. He died at the Bacolod Doctor’s Hospital a day later.
However, Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, said he is no longer replying to the statements of Hiponia because as far as the taskforce Chua is concerned their investigation leads to Longno as the possible gunman of the hotelier.
As to the paraffin test on Longno, De la Paz said, they had anticipated that it would yield a negative result because, based on their investigation, he was wearing surgical gloves when he shot Chua.
De la Paz added that the day after they announced that the family of Chua is offering half a million reward to whoever could help them shed light on his killing, they received additional information that may lead to the resolution of the case.*APN
