SU student wins
statistics contest

A BS Accountancy freshman student of Silliman University in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Ruby Busita, won the 21st Philippine Statistics Quiz held at the Negros Oriental State University recently, a press release from the school said.

First runner up was Ramil Espere Jr., a BS Geology student of NORSU, and second runner-up was Tristan Ted Abunal of the Colegio de Santa Catalina de Alejandria, all of Dumaguete City, the press release also said.

National Statistics Office provincial census officer, Ariel Fortuito, said the three winners will represent Negros Oriental in the PSQ regional level today in Cebu City.

Twelve students from the SU, NORSU, COSCA, Foundation University, AMA-Dumaguete, ACSAT and Maxino College participated in the contest that is designed to test college freshmen students on their knowledge and application of statistics.

The winners in the PSQ national finals will receive cash and trophies, and the regional champions will get medals and certificates of recognition, while their coaches, the college or university where they are enrolled and the high school where they graduated from, will be given certificates of recognition, the press release said.*
