‘Stop spreading
abduction text’

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

“Stop spreading abduction text messages.”

The appeal came from Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz yesterday after the circulation of a text messages in the city alerting residents against an alleged group kidnapping teenage girls.

A text message from an unknown source, reads “Plz be alert may grupo nga halin sa Manila ari na cla subong sa Bacolod kay nadakpan isa nila ka grupo ga pangkidnap teenager sa Brgy. Bata (Please be alerted because a group from Manila is in Bacolod and one of their companions was arrested in Brgy. Bata after abducting a teenager).

The text message also said that the suspects are using green and white vans and that the information came from Bacolod City Police.

De la Paz said they did not send the text messages and those who circulated it to residents in Bacolod just want to scare and create fear.

He reminded the public that in case they receive unverified text messages, they should not forward them to others.

De la Paz said those caught circulating text messages like this will be held criminally liable.*APN
