Driver gets 15 years
for trike theft

A Bacolod resident was sentenced yesterday to 15 years imprisonment for stealing a tricycle, which is a violation of the Anti-Carnapping Act of 1972 .

Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 49 Judge Manuel Cardinal Jr. sentenced Renato Aranico Logares, 42, to 14 years imprisonment as minimum to 15 years as maximum to be served as the National Penitentiary in Muntinlupa, Rizal.

Logares was found guilty of stealing the tricycle of Margielina Patriarca Canoy worth P28,000 in Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod City, on June 22, 2004.moremoremore

Arrest rival clans, police ordered

Negros Occidental Provincial Police Officer-in-charge Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan yesterday ordered the arrest of the members of the two rival clans in E.B. Magalona, who have arrest warrants issued against them to finally end their long-time family feud.

On Saturday, Lauro Delgado Jr., “alias Onyot”, of Brgy. Alicante, E.B. Magalona, son of a former Kagawad in Brgy. Canlunsong in the town, died in a shoot-out incident at the K’mas Pension house in Bacolod City.

He was rushed to the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital with 38 gunshot wounds and was declared dead on arrival.moremoremore

Family falls in drug busts

Four members of a family arrested and charged for illegal possession and sale of prohibited drugs in Victorias City, Negros Occidental, will soon have a reunion in jail.

This was after Annabelle de Asis, her son, Ian, and 17-year-old daughter, were arrested during a buy-bust operation Monday in Victorias City, Negros Occidental.

De Asis and her husband, Joel, were arrested in July for a similar violation. Their son, Joma, was also arrested in an anti-narcotics operation, police records show.
