The 3-foot wooden statue of San Pedro Calungsod will arrive in the Diocese of Bacolod tomorrow at 4 p.m., as part of the nationwide thanksgiving pilgrimage of the newly-canonized Filipino saint.
It will come from the Diocese of Kabankalan, where it will stay for a night, from the Diocese of Dumaguete. The statue arrived in Manila from Rome on Oct. 25 and stayed in the National Capital Region area until Nov. 12.
The official image of San Pedro Calungsod is accompanied by three priests, a family that supported the pilgrimage from Rome, and some volunteers.
Passing through the parishes in southern Negros Occidental, the image will be brought to the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City tomorrow where a mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m., followed by a vigil until 12 midnight.
From Bacolod, the image will proceed to Iloilo and a send-off mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral at 6 a.m. on Friday.
The Diocese of San Carlos will host the image on Nov. 24 and the Diocese of Tagbilaran on Nov. 25.
The nationwide pilgrimage will end on Nov. 30 at the Archdiocese of Cebu where a thanksgiving mass will be held.
San Pedro Calungsod is the second Filipino saint and was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI in Rome on October 21.*NAB
