Dumaguetnons named

BY MARICAR ARANAS

Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria has named the six Outstanding Dumaguetnon awardees who will receive their trophies 3 p.m. today in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

They are Judge Cresencio Tan Jr. of the Regional Trial Court Branch 30, for the judiciary; Rosalie Lariosa – education, Henry Espedido – journalism, Connie Rasid – agriculture, and Arturo Umbac and Catalina Amasula – public service.

Sagarbarria said he is thankful to the committee for pursuing the search even with the time constraint in fully disseminating the information.

He said he will push for the institutionalization of the search as part of the annual charter and fiesta celebration of Dumaguete, and he is hopeful that there will be 10 awardees in 2013.

The search committee is composed of City Administrator William Ablong as chair, with Department of Education Division Superintendent, Ramir Uytico, City Nutrition Officer Lourdes Taburaza, City Tourism Officer Woodrow Maquiling Jr. and Fiesta convenor Glenda Descuatan as members.*MA
