Police nab two brothers
wanted for rape, murder

Three suspects in murder and rape cases were arrested Wednesday by a combined team of policemen and troopers of the 6th Regional Public Safety Battalion in two successive operations in Manapla and Victorias City, Negros Occidental.

Town police chief Inspector Julius Ceasar Colado said the team armed with arrest warrants for murder issued by Silay Regional Trial Court Judge Felipe Banzon, apprehended Randy Heyres, 38, in Hacienda Villa Elena, Brgy. Tortosa, Manapla, on Nov. 21,.

A rape suspect, identified as Danilo Baja Jr.23, was nabbed by a combined team of Manapla police and 6th RPSB troopers headed by Inspector Joevito Bosi in the same place, Colado said.

He added that the two arrested suspects were also denied bail by Banzon.

A follow-up operation in Victorias City also led to the apprehension of Heyres’ brother, Rodney, by virtue of an arrest warrant for the crime of murder, Colado also said.*GPB

17 arrested for
illegal gambling

Seventeen persons were arrested by Station 2 policemen in two operations against illegal gambling in Brgy. 2, Bacolod City, Wednesday.

Station 2 chief, Senior Insp. Robert Dejucos, said the first operation was conducted at about 11:15 p.m. in Purok Sigay, Brgy. 2, where 14 men were reportedly caught while allegedly playing an illegal coin game called “cara y cruz”.

Dejucos said the operation resulted in the arrest of Joshua and Cyrus, both surnamed Canlas and 18 years old, of the same purok, Archie Pacilio, 32, of Purok Villa Lourdes, Brgy. Pahanocoy; Emiliano Osorio, 45, of Purok Estancia, Brgy. Mandalagan; Artemio Aringco, 25, and Rodrigo Alcala, 41, of Purok Ceriza, Brgy. 3; and Argie Aringco, 22, of Brgy. Banago, all in Bacolod.

Also arrested were Mario Isio, 50, John Mateo Duadores, 23, Romeo Isio, 58, of Purok Sigay, Gerald Cantiga, 23, of Brgy. Granada, Jornarie Vargas, 29, of Brgy. Tangub and Armand Amador, 38, of Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod.

PO2 Robert Torreno and PO3 Benjamin Jamora seized three cue coins and P76 in bet money, a police record showed.

Thirty minutes later, three men were also arrested in Purok Cagaycay, still in Brgy. 2, whom Station 2 policemen reportedly caught playing an illegal card game called “monte.”

Dejucos identified those arrested as Mark Sayon, 33, of Purok Cagaycay, Octavio Pegrino, 42, of Brgy. 12, and Mark Korea, 35, of Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod.

He said a deck of playing cards and P82 in cash were recovered from the three during their arrests.*APN

Five minors nabbed for
water meter theft

Five minors were arrested by the police for stealing seven water meters worth P12,600 at a subdivision in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City, at about 6 a.m. yesterday.

The minors, aged 13, 14 and 15, are residents of Purok Tongoy in Brgy. Felisa, Bacolod, Station 7 commander, Chief Insp. Levy Pangue said.

Pangue said they were caught in the act of stealing the water meter of a resident of Regent Pearl Homes Subdivision, Bacolod.

He said that when the police checked the sack the minors were carrying, the police recovered more water meters, that they said were to be sold to a junkshop in Brgy. Mansilingan.

Police Officers 2 Vicente Gauzon and Police Officer 1 Wenefredo Casuyn Jr. of Police Station 7 endorsed the minors to the Social Development Center.

Pangue said water meter thefts at Regent Pearl Homes Subdivision and in nearby areas have been rampant in the past months.*APN
