PNP set to recall
politicians’ escorts

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

All police personnel detailed as security escorts to politicians and other prominent persons in Western Visayas will be recalled before the election period begins on January 13 next year, Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, regional police director, said yesterday.

Those seeking the services of policemen as security escorts must apply through their immediate local police units, Cruz said.

Political candidates who will be granted security escorts, may be given the prerogative to choose the police personnel to be assigned to them.

While only a maximum of two policemen will be allowed as security escorts, he said politicians may also avail of civilian escorts through accredited security agencies," Cruz added.

He, however, said that security escorts, either police or civilian, must be in prescribed uniforms while on duty.

Cruz also stressed that only persons wth validated threats to their security and safety will be granted escorts.* GPB
