The warning made in a United Nations Environment Program report on global warming states that the need to keep the earth atmosphere at climate level “has moved further out of reach”.

And this report is alarming.

The World Meteorological Organization has reported an increase of earth-warming gases in the atmosphere. UNEP’s remedy to the problem is to slash climate-altering greenhouse gas emissions by 14 percent, or to about 44 billion tons in 2020 from an estimated 50.1 billion tons this year.

European Climate commissioner Connie Hedegaard said the world is not getting its act together fast enough. Despite the facts and evidence in front of us, there are still many interests advocating for doing nothing, or just forgetting the climate crisis.

The opinion perceived by others on global warming is that, it is simply the result of a normal climactic swing in the direction of increased temperature. Such ideology has definitive social and financial interests in it.

Regardless of one’s perspective, the effects of global warming are quantifiable set of environmental results that are in addition to any normal changes in climate.

We know that climate change is real and it is always increasing day by day. We could help by turning off the lights, saving bottles and paper, recycling, riding bicycles, walking and planting trees.

We should help save our planet to ensure that it becomes a safer, cleaner and greener place for everyone to live in.*
