After three days of competition, athletes from Bacolod City collected 37 gold, 34 silver, and 20 bronze medals from swimming, athletics, taekwondo and table tennis in the Philippine Olympic Committee-Philippine Sports Commission Batang Pinoy 2012 Visayas leg at the Leyte Sports Development Center in Tacloban City.
The swimming team, mentored by Roseal Limaco, topped the list of gold medalists from Bacolod with 19 gold medals, while the athletics team from Bacolod Tay Tung High School snared 12 gold medals.
The taekwondo team of coach JimJim Chua tallied four golds, while the table tennis team of coach Dexter Delenila from Lopue’s Table Tennis Association grabbed two gold medals, two silvers and a bronze.
Coach Amado Juguan’s team from Tay Tung also finished with 25 silver and seven bronze medals, as the swimming team has seven silvers and 10 bronzes.
The gold medalists in taekwondo were Stephanie Lamayo in finweight, Irene Bermejo and Jason Locsin in flyweight, and Alyssa Amihan in heavyweight. Chua’s taekwondo jins also won two bronze medals.
