Bacolod athletes shine in
Batang Pinoy Visayas

After three days of competition, athletes from Bacolod City collected 37 gold, 34 silver, and 20 bronze medals from swimming, athletics, taekwondo and table tennis in the Philippine Olympic Committee-Philippine Sports Commission Batang Pinoy 2012 Visayas leg at the Leyte Sports Development Center in Tacloban City.

The swimming team, mentored by Roseal Limaco, topped the list of gold medalists from Bacolod with 19 gold medals, while the athletics team from Bacolod Tay Tung High School snared 12 gold medals.

The taekwondo team of coach JimJim Chua tallied four golds, while the table tennis team of coach Dexter Delenila from Lopue’s Table Tennis Association grabbed two gold medals, two silvers and a bronze.

Class ’82 paces
NOHS bowlfest

Class ’82 sparked an excellent game in its initial outing to grab the No.1 post in the premier class, as Batch ’87 and ’95 took the leadership in their respective divisions of the Negros Occidental High School Alumni Association Inc. (NOHSAAI) Annual Bowlfest For Unity - Presidents Cup 2012 championship rounds at the Negros Super Lanes of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.

The Class ’82 bowlers hauled a three-game score of 1,516 points to lead nine others in Bracket A, while C’87 and C’95 scattered 1,437 and 1,385 in taking the driver seat in category B and C, respectively.

Joining C’82 are C’66, 1487; C74, 1464; C97,1417; C85, 1403; C84, 1378; C80,1345, C83,1336, Golden, 1320 and C89, 1296.

NBTC Elite League opens
Sunday at WNU

The SeaOil-NBTC Elite League Basketball Tournament 2012-2013 opens at the West Negros Gym in Bacolod City with Trinity Christian School going up against Mansilingan Christian Academy in the first game at 8 a.m. tomorrow.

The second game will be between St. John’s Institute –A against Tangub Christian Academy at 10:30 a.m., while University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos will go up against SJI – B at noon.

Afternoon games will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the University of St. La Salle-IS clashing against BCCN, while host West Negros University will face Bacolod Tay Tung High School at 3 p.m.
