Driver killed in Bata
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A driver was shot dead by his colleague at about 8 a.m. yesterday at the Bacolod City North Terminal in Brgy. Bata, over a traffic altercation.

Station 3 chief, Senior Insp. Conrado Rances, identified the casualty as Pablo Portillo, 29, of Brgy. 8, Victorias City, Negros Occidental.

Portillo succumbed to a lone gunshot wound on the back on the way to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, Rances said.

The suspect, identified as Renante Francisco, 33, of Brgy. Zone 12 in Talisay City, evaded arrest and brought with him the .45 caliber pistol he used in shooting Portillo, Rances also said.

An empty shell of a .45 caliber pistol and Francisco’s jeepney were recovered at the crime scene, a police report said.

Investigation showed that Francisco and Portillo, who belonged to two different organizations of public utility vehicles, argued when the suspect parked his jeepney in a non-loading and unloading area last week.

Several days after the argument, Francisco tried to hit Portillo with a baseball bat when they saw each other in Talisay City, but their colleagues were able to pacify them, Rances said.

Yesterday, Francisco and Portillo saw each other at the North Terminal and another verbal spat occurred, that eventually led to the shooting, he added.

Meanwhile, a teenager was wounded when an unidentified man stabbed him for unknown reasons, in Brgy. 3, Bacolod City, at about 2:30 a.m. yesterday.

Case investigator, Senior Police Officer 1 Dante Victor Escorpion, identified the victim as Ireil Capa, 18, of Purok Mahimulaton, Brgy. Banago, Bacolod.

Capa said he was in Purok Lubi, Brgy. 3, when the suspect stabbed him on the forehead and nape without provocation.

Capa is now confined at the CLMMRH, and Station 2 policemen are investigating the case.*APN
