Ranking system for
teachers eyed

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The Department of Education Division of Negros Oriental will implement a new system in the ranking of teachers to level the field between those newly-hired and those who have doctorate or masteral degrees.

DepEd-NegOr Supt. Salutiano Jimenez said in yesterday’s division executive conference that the new system will enable everybody, especially hardworking teachers and top performers of the division, to be ranked first.

Whenever there is a ranking, those doing their best are often left behind, including the principals who have accomplished much for their districts, but have no time to go on further schooling, while those with masteral degrees are pursuing their studies, he added.

Jimenez said the academic requirement will still be part of the ranking system, but will not be the only gauge in determining the rank of a teacher.

The conference was attended by Gov. Roel Degamo, teachers-in-charge, head teachers, principals, and district supervisors of the province.*JG
