Son admits beheading A suspect in the beheading of his 70-year-old mother in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, had confessed to the crime, before his arrest, Senior Inspector Robert Mansueto said yesterday.
The suspect, identified as Jojie Aguirre, was denied bail by the court, after he was charged with parricide Wednesday, in connection with the beheading.
Mansueto, Moises Padilla police chief, yesterday said Aguirre told his sister that he had killed their mother, Nenita.
Aguirre allegedly beheaded his 70-year-old mother, Nenita, with a bolo in Brgy. 7, Moises Padilla, and placed her head under the Christmas tree at their house.
Her headless body was found lying across the entrance to the kitchen of their house Tuesday morning, police records show.
Mansueto said Aguirre is expected to be transferred to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology next week, where he will be detained while his case is being deliberated on.
The suspect, who is separated from his wife and children is reportedly suffering from depression and is an alcoholic.*GPB

‘Barkers' maul helper
A delivery van helper of a forwarding company was seriously injured when he was mauled by four barkers, or those who are calling passengers to ride public utility vehicles, when he refused to give them coins at the Bacolod City downtown area Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Jonie Lumanog, 21, of Purok Cubay in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod, by case investigator Police Officer 2 Jared Esquilla.
Esquilla said Lumanog was still confined at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital as of yesterday because his jaw was fractured and he lost four of his teeth.
The delivery van of EHG Traders and Forwarding Company was about to leave after delivering some goods to an establishment at Gonzaga Street, when the barkers flagged it and asked for coins, Esquilla also said.
When the driver, whose name was not disclosed, refused, the barkers grabbed Lumanog from the van and mauled him, he added.
A follow-up operation led to the arrest of two of the four barkers, identified as Joven Bayona, 21, of Purok Lubi in Brgy. 3 and Michael Sisom, 25, of Puentebella Subdivision in Brgy. Taculing, both in Bacolod, a police record showed.
However, the two were released from detention because the family has not decided whether they will push through with the charges or not.
Bacolod City Police Director, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, said that they will again intensify their campaign against barkers.
De la Paz said an existing city ordinance in Bacolod disallows barkers at the city's main thoroughfares.*APN
