Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday announced the granting of a P1,000 Christmas incentive bonus for each of the 1,668 day care workers of Negros Occidental that was met with laud applause and cheers from those present at their general assembly at the Negros Occidental Multi Purpose Activity Center in Bacolod City yesterday.
Marañon, who lauded the work of the day care workers of the province, said the incentive was in recognition of their sacrifice and hard work.
In his speech at the General Assembly and Year-End Evaluation of Day Care Workers province-wide, the governor, said the provincial government has constructed 16 day care centers in 11 towns and cities of the province worth P8 million and reproduced P1 million worth of workbooks for pre-schoolers.
He also aired his opposition to the Reproductive Health bill “because I believe that the wealth of this nation is our people, as long as we can send them to school and feed them.”
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Liane Garcia said a day care work is a vocation and a commitment because they help build a child's foundation.
Day Care Workers Federation president Cora Ramos reported that the 1,668 day care centers and workers in the province caters to 65,785 pre-schoolers from two years and six months old to four years and 11 months old.*CPG
