A Bacolod barangay employee was apprehended when he allegedly bad-mouthed and harassed the participants of a fun walk and the policemen assigned to man the traffic in Brgy. Mansilingan in the city at about 6:15 p.m. Saturday.
Police identified the one arrested as Rene Britania of Purok Kahirup, Brgy. Mansilingan, and employed as messenger of the barangay.
Bacolod City Police Traffic Management Unit head, Chief Insp. Luisito Acebuche said Britania, who was riding a motorcycle, blocked the traffic policemen and the participants of the fun walk, who were campaigning for the approval of the plebiscite converting Purok Paglaum into a barangay.
Acebuche added that Britania, believed to be under the influence of liquor, showed a dirty finger, bad-mouthed them and introduced himself as personnel of Bacolod Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson.
Contacted by the DAILY STAR, Sayson said he had helped Britania to be employed but added that he will not tolerate Britania’s act.
Sayson said although he has not yet seen the police report, he will urge the police to file charges against Britania.
Britania who was taken into custody by Police Station 7 will face charges for slander by deeds.*APN/HLG back
