Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. is filing his Certificate of Candidacy for governor along with his United Negros Alliance partymates at the provincial Commission on Elections office in Bacolod City at 3 p.m. today.
He did not confirm if La Carlota Mayor Juliet Marie Ferrer will file her CoC as his running mate, amid talk that it may be Board Member Melvin Ibañez who will run for vice governor.
Marañon will be accompanied by some of his provincial board and congressional bets who will also file their CoCs.
Among the congressional bets expected with the governor are Nehemias de la Cruz, who is running in the first district, and Rafael Leo Cueva for the second district.
Marañon on Monday said running for board members are Jose Maria Valmayor and Clodualdo Dedicatoria for the first district, Miller Serondo and Salvador Escalante – second district, Edwin Velez and a second bet to be named later – third district, Jose Benito Alonso – fourth district, Melvin Ibañez and Francis Gerard Tuvilla – fifth district, and Ted del Rio – sixth district.
Marañon said they are not fielding a second board member candidate in the sixth district against Board Member Pedro Zayco, who is a friend.*CPG
