ANP, partners advocate
for food safety program

The Association of Negros Producers, in partnership with the Assistance for the Fontification of Organizations Foundation and the Department of Science and Technology is launching a Food Safety Program for the Food industry in Negros Occidental under a 3-year program called OURFood, an ANP press release said.

Optimizing and Upscaling Roles in the Food Supply Chain or OURFood, is a program implemented by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Association of Negros Producers and the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry. which aims to increase the income situation of MSMEs.

This will be through improving the competitiveness of enterprises along the food supply chain through a training and qualification that will enable them to adopt globally acceptable standards, the press release said.

The agenda on food safety awareness will be spearheaded by the lead associations and chambers among food suppliers, processors, food service providers and consumers.

An awareness seminar entitled, ”Food Safety Management: Your Key to Business Success “ has been scheduled on October 4, 2012 9 a.m. to noon at the ANP Conference Room, 2nd Floor of the Negros Showroom. This is the first of a series of trainings and seminars on Food Safety management. A German and a local Food Tech Consultant, DietmarSpeckmaier, Long Term Expert for OURFood Program have been appointed by AFOS Foundation to engage in then NEGROS project for three years, the press release said.

Private Stakeholders and LGUs within the OURFood coverage area are expected to join the half-day awareness Seminar together with government agencies involved with the food industry.

The agenda to upscale and upgrade the local food industry has been adopted as a strategy to make ANP local enterprises globally competitive by 2015.

A minimal fee of P 150 per participant will be charged during the seminar .
