Mustangs bag men’s basketball title
as Rams forfeit Game 2 showdown

The West Negros University Mustangs successfully defended their title in NOPSSCEA men’s basketball with an easy win last night as the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Rams failed to show up in Game 2 of their best-of-three final series at the WNU Gym.

Mustangs led the series after winning Game 1, 78-77.

At 1:35 p.m. yesterday, the office of NOPSSCEA Committee on Sports chairman Anthony Carlo Agustin received a letter from UNO-R Sports Moderator Ericson Rios stating the team’s unavailability for Game 2.

Terra Dolce posts 4th win in
SJI Alumni basketball

Secured in their third spot in the team standing, Terra Dolce/Jollibee 90/91/92 cruised to its fourth straight semifinals appearance by beating Eleven Degrees 96/97/98, 71-60, while New Energy/Shakey’s 2008/10/11 pulled through against Waterfull/Celcor93/94/95, 72-68, in the 5th SJI Alumni Basketball Friendship Cup played at the Msgr. John Liu Activities Center.

Waterfull established a 12-6 lead in the first quarter, but New Energy shifted to a full court man-to-man defense that immediately produced dividends as they closed the quarter on a 10-0 run for a 16-12 advantage.
