Good news for 2,300 Capitol employees.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental yesterday passed a resolution requesting for the appropriation and release of the milestone anniversary bonus differentials for government employees, on the basis of the amendments to the founding anniversary of Negros Occidental.
Board Member Manuel Frederick Ko, who authored the resolution, said each of Capitol employee, is expected to receive P9,000.
A legal opinion of the Provincial Legal Office states that May 1, 1901 is the accurate and true date of the founding of Negros Occidental, therefore officials and employees of the province are entitled to an anniversary bonus.
Ko, however, said that in the event that anniversary differentials are disallowed by the Commission on Audit, all amounts received by the employee must be refunded by them through salary deductions, until fully paid.
Provincial Administrator Enrique Pinongan had earlier said that Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. has stated that if the claim is valid, he is asking the Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees to agree that the payment be made on a staggered basis.
With the agreement between the governor and the PACE officers, Pinongan said he has forwarded their claim to Provincial Budget Officer Jose Percival Salado Jr. to find sources of funds so a supplement budget can be approved.*GPB back
