Chief justice arriving

Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno will be the keynote speaker at the opening ceremonies of the Philippine Judges Association midterm convention and seminar, to be held in Bacolod City, October 10 to 12.

The convention, on the theme, “PJA: Upholding and Strengthening Judicial Independence”, will start on October 10 with the registration of delegates, a golf tournament at the Binitin Golf Course in Murcia, and a MassKara ball and cultural show at the Bacolod Pavillon Resort Hotel.

The plenary session on October 11 will begin with the opening ceremonies to be attended by the Chief Justice at the La Proa Ballroom of L’Fisher Hotel.

PJA national president, Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 44 Judge Franklin Demonteverde, will make the call to order.

Invited to the opening ceremonies, aside from Sereno, are Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., Bacolod. Rep. Anthony Golez and Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

In the afternoon of October 11, Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez will discuss the latest Supreme Court circulars.

On October 12, convention participants will join an eco tour at the Mambukal Resort in Murcia where the closing ceremonies will be held at 3:30 p.m.

The Negros Occidental Regional Trial Court Judges Association officers are headed by Kathrine Go – president, Frances Guanzon – executive vice president, Fernando Elumba – vide president central, Nilo Sarsaba – vice president south, Renato Muñez – vice president north, Dyna Doll Trocio – secretary, and Anita Chua – treasurer.

Members of the Board of Directors are Franklin Demonteverde, Ray Alan Drilon, Philadelfa Agraviador, Edgar Garvilles and Pepito Gellada.* CPG
