Paravets to get
monthly stipend

Paraveterinarians from 17 local government units can now claim their monthly allowances for July and August of P494,500 at the Provincial Treasurer’s Office.

Cathyrine Narez, provincial livestock inspector, said yesterday said that about 495 paraveterians can now get their monthly allowances of P500 per month.

This is a monthly stipend from the provincial government to paravets for in assisting the Provincial Veterinary Office in conducting animal health extension work in their LGUs and barangays, she said.

Paravets perform artificial insemination, vaccination, deworming, and castration in some cases, she said. They are the extension arm of the PVO in giving immediate veterinary needs to farm animals, she added.

The LGUs are the cities of Escalante, Bago, Victorias, Sagay, La Carlota, Kabankalan, Cadiz, and Himamaylan, and the towns of Pontevedra, Binalbagan, Moises Padilla, Cauayan, Pulupandan, Murcia, Valladolid, and Ilog.

Narez also said that beneficiaries of the Negros First Provincial Animal Dispersal can consult their local paraveterinarians for more programs and projects of PVO.

They are also encouraged to have their animals regularly checked by the paravets for health inspection to prevent disease outbreaks, she added. *LTG
