The Commission on Audit decision is finally out but is it too late?

Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. announced yesterday that the COA has approved the Deed of Conditional Sale of 36,587 square meters of prime property in Bacolod City by the Negros Occidental government to AyalaLand Inc.

The request of the provincial government for approval of its Contract of Lease with ALI for 40,481 square meters of its property behind the provincial Capitol, and adjacent to the land up for sale, was also remanded to COA Audit team Leader Ernie Villa and the provincial government for contract review on post-audit basis.moremoremore

Dumpsite closure MOA inked

Environment Secretary Ramon Paje and Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia signed the memorandum of agreement between Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the City of Bacolod for the closure of the city dumpsite and the improvement of its garbage collection from households.

The signing was held at the Bulwagan Ninoy of the Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau in Quezon City.

Paje signed similar agreements with five other local government units, Iloilo City, Butuan City, General Santos City, Legazpi City and Cabanatuan City.moremoremore

File CoCs early today,
bets urged

Negros Occidental Provincial Elections Supervisor Jessie Suarez yesterday called on candidates to file their Certificates of Candidacy early and avoid cutting it too close to the 5 p.m. deadline today.

As much as possible, file your CoCs in the morning to avoid the deadline rush, he said.

If the candidates file their CoCs early, they will have time to rectify possible errors found in their CoCs, Suarez said.moremoremore
