COMELEC SAYS
Only five bets filed COCs
for Dumaguete council

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The Commission on Elections in Dumaguete City said it had received only five certificates of candidacy for sanggunian members as of 12 noon yesterday.

City COMELEC officer Carmencita Cañares said they are Lani Ramon, owner of Bread Camp; William Aranas, a retired teacher of the Negros Oriental State University; incumbent councilor Nilo Sayson, Joel Obar and Board Member Saleto Erames.

Cañares reminded the candidates that the commission will no longer entertain them beyond 5 p.m. today, the last day for filing of COCs of those who want to run for any elective post in the May 13, 2013 polls.

NORECO 2 GM named;
Board chairman resigns

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative Board elected Eunora Yen Sameon as its fulltime general manager effective today, and Board chairman James Fontelo tendered his resignation Wednesday.

Fontelo, however, clarified that his irrevocable resignation has nothing to do with the selection of Sameo, adding that he wants to give others the opportunity to be chair of the board.

Sameon, 58, is a certified public accountant, and has been an auditor, comptroller and internal audit manager of the electric cooperative. The two other applicants were Finance Department manager, Dionefred Macahig, who was acting GM for more than one year, and Chito Lozano, also of NORECO 2.

DepEd official 3rd in CES test

An education program supervisor of the Department of Education Dumaguete City Division, Orlando Cadano, ranked third in the Career Executive Service eligibility written examination recently, with a rating of 87.97 percent.

Cadano, who has a doctoral degree in education, said he hopes that he will also hurdle the assessment level of the CSE, the validation and the Board interview.

The other passers from the City DepEd are Ma. Lina Paloma and Neri Ojastro.
