Other foreigners victims, too
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

The Bacoleña who duped her retired American soldier chatmate and took from him almost half a million pesos in cash may have also victimized other foreign nationals.

Station 7 commander, Chief Insp. Levy Pangue, yesterday said that when they checked the supposed Facebook account of the suspect Carla Descutido Lopez, they found out that she has other foreigner chatmates, which she may have swindled, too.

As of now, Pangue said, they are still trying to locate Lopez and her sister, Gina Lopez, who introduced her to victim Jun Welbur Alley, 73.

Pangue said that they will seek the help of the National Bureau of Investigation to locate and arrest the two women.

While they do not believe this is a case of syndicated swindling, it is possible that the names used by the suspects in their Facebook accounts are fictitious, Pangue said.

Alley told the police that he sent $12,000, or P492,000 to his chatmate, through money transfer last week for the expenses for their wedding and reservations at the hotel, where the reception would be held.

Their supposed wedding was scheduled Saturday but it didn’t push through as Alley failed to locate his chatmate at her given address at Cottage Road, Barangay Mansilingan.

Pangue said the disheartened American is still in Bacolod but may leave soon for Cebu.*APN
