A suspected robber died when he was shot by the owner of the house in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City that he entered at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday.
The robber, from Purok Araw in Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod, whose name is being withheld as he is a minor, died on the way to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, City Police Women and Children’s Complaints Desk chief, Insp. Jovy Cabcaban, told the DAILY STAR.
House owner Harry Uy, 45, of Hervias Uno, Brgy. Villamonte, surrendered to Police Station 4 after the incident and endorsed his .45 caliber pistol with expired license and two empty shells of the same caliber, Cabcaban said.
Initial investigation showed that Uy shot the minor in the back after he saw him fleeing from the compound of his apartment with the items he owned.
Recovered from the minor were a Play Station Portable, assorted T-shirts and slippers and a gun replica, which the police believed was used by the minor in threatening his victims, Cabcaban said.
A Taiwanese national, occupying one of the rooms at the apartment of Uy, also told the police that the minor had also ransacked his rented place and had taken a laptop battery on Friday, Cabcaban also said.
She said that the minor has been arrested for theft and robbery cases and endorsed to WCCD several times in the past, but was able to escape after being brought to the Social Development Center.
Cabcaban stressed that Uy may be facing murder charges because the minor was hit on the back but he cannot be held liable for violation of gun ban since the incident happened at his apartment.*APN back
