Jury of Appeals’
decision out soon

The Jury of Appeals convened by the NOPSSCEA Board of Directors is ready to present the results of their investigation on the men’s basketball final series controversy between the West Negros University and University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, press relations officer Carlos Legaspi said yesterday.

He said the document will be released today with the signatures of the members of the jury.

NOPSSCEA Board of Trustee and ex-oficio Dr. Rosario De Guzman, one of the members of the jury, said she was not able to attend the October 5 deliberation due to conflict in schedule, while Ma. Del Pilar Limas of USLS-IS clarified she was not a member as she begged off from joining the group due to a prior commitment.

Sports Committee chairman Anthony Carlo Agustin told the DAILY STAR in a text message that he can not make any comment on the issue as it will preempt the official statement from the Board.

Earler, UNO-R officials submitted an appeal to the NOPSSCEA Board for the lifting of the game forfeiture issued by the basketball tournament officials after the Rams failed to show up for the Game 2 on Oct. 3 of their best-of-three championship series against the WNU Mustangs.

UNO-R sports moderator Ericson Rios said they have to beg off from playing in the Oct. 3 game as it was a Wednesday and academic demands of the schools on their student-athletes will not permit them to be absent from their respective classes.

Tournament commissioner Renato Bravo declared the Mustangs champion after the Rams failed to show up, citing FIBA Rules Article 20 covering game lost by forfeit.*NAB
