Bacolod Tay Tung High School elementary girls and high school boys and girls’ athletics teams remain a force to reckon with in the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural and Educational Association 32nd Season as they ruled their respective events during the competition held at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.

Led by local sprint princess Mary Anthony Diesto, Hannah Malate, and Alyanah Pineda, the Tay Tung High School girls keep their title in secondary girls athletics while the high school boys team replicated the feat in their division.

BTTHS elementary girls’ ahletics teams also dominated the field, while their teammates in the boys’ side settled for first runner-up behind University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos.

top karatedo tourney

Karatekas from Jack & Jill School Homesite and Castleson High-City Heights stamped their class on the elementary and high school karatedo competition of the NOPSSCEA this year.

Mentored by sensei Randy Mengullo, Jack & Jill Homesite’s Ceazar Rein Florete bagged the a gold and silver medals in 12 years old kumite and intermediate boys’ kata, while Alliah Minn Sampang plucked the gold for 8-9 novice girls’ kata. Carlo Samonte finished with a silver and bronze in 7 years old and below kumite and novice boys’ kata, while Romeo Claude Gemanel took home the bronze in 10-11 years old novice boys’ kata.

It was a double gold for Ralf Basuel, and Alex Marianne for JJS Castleson High while Ritz Atanacio had a gold and silver in 7 years old kumite and novice boys’ kata.

All set for MassKara bowlfest

It is all systems go for the weeklong Masskara Invitational and National Open Trio Bowling Tournament that opens Oct.13, in two different venues in Bacolod City.

The regional duckpin championship organized by the Active Solid Strikers Fellowship Bowlers, Inc., will be held at the New Top’s Millennium Plaza Alley on Oct.13 to 14, while Kami Mga Hubin Bowling Club – Micro Asia-sponsored national open competition will start Oct.17 at the Super Lanes of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex.

National duckpin players from Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao will vie for the top prize in the individual and team events hosted by two local ball clubs as part of this year’s Masskara Festival celebration that will be contested in the men and women’s divisions.
