Ilog mayor has not received
suspension order yet - VG

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez Jr. yesterday said his son Ilog Mayor John Paul Alvarez has not received yet the reported 90-day suspension order issued by the Sandiganbayan against him.

His son remains in office and their lawyers are studying whether a motion for reconsideration can be filed, Alvarez said.

He added that they are not bothered by a suspension.

He had pointed out earlier that a suspension is not a conviction but a standard practice when government people are named in cases.

His son will defend himself in the course of the hearing of the case, Alvarez said.

The Sandiganbayan Fifth Division in a resolution promulgated September 21, ordered the suspension for 90 days of the Ilog Mayor in connection with an Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices case filed against him.

The case involves the alleged unlawful repair and replacement of the motor engine of a Mitsubishi Pajero service vehicle of the Ilog Department of Education office.*CPG
