Repair Sum-ag road - VM
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson yesterday called on the Department of Public Works and Highways to repair the Sum-ag Road in Bacolod City.

He said the Sum-ag Road is a national road and falls under the jurisdiction of the national government, and not under Bacolod City.

Sayson said he called up the DPWH yesterday and he was told that the project had already been turned over to a contractor from Chinaon July 29.

He said the DPWH officials also told him that since the project is now under the contractor, they can not undertake the repair anymore.

Sayson said that since the project was turned over to the contractor last July yet and it is already October, he is calling on the DPWH to do something about the pot holes from Pahanocoy up to the boundary of Sum-ag.

This is the responsibility of the national government, through the local congressional district, so they should give this their attention, he said.

He recalled that the previous congressman who had served for nine years, did not finish the project, referring to former Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella.

Sayson said this is a call to DPWH to implement temporary repairs until such time that the contractor could start the construction.

Residents and passersby have been complaining and now consider the Sum-ag road an "abortion road" because of its many pot holes that cause bumpy and uncomfortable rides.

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod had passed a resolution on the repair of the Sum-ag road.

Sayson, had said earlier, that the city officials, have not been remiss in their duty and have reminded DPWH and had even written them seven months ago informing them of the need to repair the road and also inquired about its status.*CGS
