The Negros Oriental provincial government recently bought five new bulldozers to improve its disaster preparedness and fast-track construction projects, a government press release said.
The bulldozers are also being used in rehabilitating infrastructure damaged by tropical storm “Sendong” and the 6.9-magnitude earthquake.
Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council executive officer Adrian Sedillo said the equipment were purchased with the calamity funds of the province from 2010 to 2012.
He added that they will replace the old ones owned by the provincial government and used by the engineering mobile teams earlier formed for each of the three districts of Oriental Negros, the press release said.
Eight more heavy equipment are needed to fully implement the engineering mobile team projects in the districts, the press release added.*
