Majica floats installed in
2 venues in Bacolod

The two floats of Majica MassKara have been installed in their host venues: the installation of “sea creatures” at the Gaisano Grand mall, and the “mountain creatures” at the PanAsiatic Solutions call center in Bacolod City Sunday, a press release from organizers said.

Conceptualized by Peque Gallaga and under the direction of Charlie Co, the floats were created by artists Charlotte Rodriguez, Neil Benavente, Karina Broce, Frelan Gonzaga, Willy Sarabia, Rez Galvez and Joery Bais, and were part of the MassKara Art Weekend Oct. 5 to 7.

The ninth installation, titled “Ang Bukid kag Baybay sa Bacolod (The Mountain and The Sea in Bacolod)” highlights the geographic gift of the city where the mountains and the seas meet.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the local artists have expanded the festival to greater heights, and thanked them for giving more color and creativity to the celebration, the press release said.

“The participation of our local artists is the strongest points of the MassKara Festival. Through it, we create our own identity, our own sense of art. This makes the MassKara a cut above the rest in Philippine tourism,” Leonardia said in his speech at the installation rites attended by festival director Eli Tajanlangit, streetdance committee chair Rudy Reveche, Majica director Charlie Co, and Armand Lim and Nomer Lobaton of Gaisano mall.

The installation artworks will stay in their host venues until Oct. 19, then will join other floats of schools and companies for the first night of the Electric MassKara at the tourism strip at Lacson Street, Bacolod, the press release added.*
