BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A woman drowned in Bacolod City, Monday while a teenaged girl also died from drowning in Ilog town, Negros Occidental, Sunday.

The unidentified woman, who was clad in blue green shorts and brown T-shirt was found by some passersby floating at the shorelines of Brgy. Punta Taytay, Bacolod at about 4:30 p.m. Monday, Station 9 commander, Chief Insp. Placido Gentoleo said.

Rescuers of Brgy. Punta Taytay brought her to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Hospital, where she died while being treated, he said.

Gentoleo added that the woman, who was between 20 to 25 years-old, about five feet in height and with a dark complexion, could not be a resident of the area because no one from the barangay could identify her.

Her body is now at the morgue of the BAMH.

In Ilog town, Rachelle Saldoa, 16, of Brgy. Mambugsay, Cauayan, Negros Occidental died while being treated at the Kabankalan City District Hospital a few minutes after she also drowned in a beach resort in Brgy. Bocana, Ilog.

Ilog town police chief, Senior Insp. Joshua Villasis said Saldoa was swimming at the Wayne Beach resort in Sitio Calumpang with her companions when the strong water current carried her into the deep portion of the ocean where she drowned.*APN
