VG reiterates
support for Yulo

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Negros Occidental Vice-Governor Genaro Alvarez Jr. yesterday reiterated his support for the candidacy of Board Member Emilio Yulo III for congressman of the 5th district, although he is a member of the Nacionalista Party.

Alvarez, who is running for governor in the 2013 elections, yesterday justified his support for Yulo, by saying that there is a “partnership” among the NPC, LP and NP.

Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District), LP provincial chairman, had earlier said that he will also support the re-election bid of Rep. AlejandroEmilio Mirasol, who defeated Yulo, his nephew, with a lead of 13,103 votes in a special election held in June.

Yulo, however, said he is optimistic about winning, this time.

Yulo said his selection as a guest candidate of the NPC underwent a process. He also stressed that no concession was made, in exchange for his selection. “I will not shift to another party just for political convenience”, he added.

Without mentioning any names, Yulo said Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. was abandoned by the candidates he had supported during the last election. It is up to the people to judge the credibility of that person, Yulo added.*GPB
