judges of benefits
Calls for reduction of .6M case backlog

Supreme Court Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno yesterday told the country’s 2,000 judges that the national government has assured her that that there will be no diminution of their salaries and benefits.

She also announced that the monthly Special Allowance for Judges will remain a part of their compensation, which was met with loud applause from the judges gathered at the Philippine Judges Association midterm convention at the L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City.

The judges receive an SAJ of about P30,000 a month.?

Bacolod in top 4 of
PH business friendly cities

Bacolod City was declared among the top four winners of the Most Business-Friendly City in the Philippines search during the 38th Philippine Business Conference and Expo at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel yesterday.

Bacolod was adjudged as the Most Business-Friendly City in the Visayas, and the award was presented to Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

The others were Olongapo City for Luzon, Cagayan de Oro City for Mindanao and Valenzuela City for the entire country.moremoremore

Two executed

The bodies of two murdered men, one of them still unidentified, were found in the cities of Bacolod yesterday and in Himamaylan, Negros Occidental Wednesday.

Police records show that the body of Arnel Blanco Piquit, 31, of Brgy. Nanunga, Hinigaran town, Negros Occidental was found lying on his side by Bejie Sagon who was walking along the highway of Sitio Tanate in Brgy. Aguisan, Himamaylan, at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

PO3 John Derick Capunong of Himamaylan police said Piquit, who was clad in a red sleeveless shirt and light brown cargo shorts, had been slashed in the neck.moremoremore
